Mansado's Story

Mansado was only four years old when his mother made one of the hardest decisions a parent can face. Unable to provide everything he needed, she brought him to the Mission of Hope orphanage in Titanyen, Haiti, hoping he would receive the care and opportunities she wanted for him.
As Mansado grew, others came alongside him too. He attended church and school and was surrounded by people who cared for him, encouraged his faith, and invested in his future.
Through their care, Mansado learned what it means to see a need and choose to respond.
After the devastating 2010 earthquake, Mansado began serving with Mission of Hope as a translator. He helped patients communicate with those providing medical care, offering comfort and connection during a frightening and uncertain time.
It quickly became clear that Mansado had a natural ability to connect with people. Even as a child, he knew he wanted to spend his life serving others. By the time he graduated from high school in 2017, he had already spent years using his gifts to care for the people around him.
Then Mansado met Christine.
Christine was only two years old and needed someone she could trust. She quickly gravitated toward Mansado, and he chose to be a steady, caring presence in her life. He helped meet her practical needs and advocated for her.
The care Mansado once received had become the care he was ready to give.
Mansado understood what it meant for someone to recognize your needs, believe in your future, and remind you that you are not alone. Now, he had the opportunity to do the same for Christine.
That spirit of care continues to shape his life today. Mansado works for Mission of Hope as a videographer, using his gifts to tell the stories of people throughout Haiti. Whether he is helping someone feel seen, sharing a story that might otherwise go unheard, or caring for his daughter, Mansado continues to live out the compassion others first showed him.
His story reminds us that caring for someone in need can have an impact far beyond a single moment. A meal, an education, medical care, spiritual encouragement, or the presence of someone who refuses to look away can help shape an entire life.
And sometimes, the person who receives that care grows up to offer it to someone else.
As children across Haiti return to school, Mansado’s story shows what is possible when a child is cared for, encouraged, and given the opportunity to grow. Because of the faithful generosity of friends like you, children and families can receive the support they need today and the hope to care for others tomorrow.
The hope Mansado spent his life receiving is now the hope he spends his life giving away.
