Celebrating 28 Years of Ministry

Over the years, Mission of Hope has walked through many different chapters. There have been times of joyful celebration, faithful prayer for the future, and growth we could have never predicted. When Brad and Vanessa Johnson gave their “yes” to God 28 years ago, they had no idea what was in store.

We are reminded every single day that when we give our “yes” to what God is calling us to, He does more than we could ask, think, or imagine. Through being an organization that unashamedly believes in the power of the Gospel and the importance of empowering the local church, we have seen lives changed. We have seen countless families, students, and children fed, educated, and given the opportunity to thrive. We have seen local leaders equipped, churches strengthened, and communities transformed through the love of Jesus.

We are also encouraged by the faith of the families, students, pastors, and local leaders we get to walk alongside in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and across the Caribbean. Their stories remind us of God’s faithfulness and leave us expectant for all He will continue to do.

Their stories remind us that this mission has never been about what one person or organization can accomplish, but about what God can do through a willing “yes.”

As Brad shares in his new book, Jumping Points, God often uses one step of faith to lead us somewhere we never thought we would go. The book reflects on the ways God uses our willingness to say “yes” to open doors and lead us into His purposes. Looking back on 28 years of ministry, we are grateful for every “yes” that has brought us here, and we look forward to seeing how He continues to work in the years ahead.
