Lasting Change in the Dominican Republic

In the Dominican Republic, Mission of Hope’s Community Engagement team works alongside local churches and community leaders to understand each community’s priorities and pursue lasting change together. Because every community is different, the response looks different, too.

Sometimes, change begins with something simple. In Pekín, community members and the team worked together to repaint a wall and clean up a nearby park, creating a safer, more welcoming place for families.

In Sabenta, the local church recognized that children had limited access to safe, supportive after-school places. With many parents working, the church began an after-school program where children can learn, grow, build relationships, and hear about the hope of Jesus.

And in El Pino, the community came together when a mother of five lost her home in a fire. Through that shared response, her family received a stove, a mattress, and other essentials—reminding them that they were surrounded by people who cared.

Whether the response involves a children’s program, medical care, women’s empowerment, support for local pastors, or meeting an unexpected need, the purpose remains the same: to work alongside communities toward lasting change and strengthen what God is already doing through the local church.

Thank you for standing with local churches and communities as they create lasting change from within.
