DOMINICAN REPUBLIC | HOPEGO IN THE DR

This summer has started off with excitement as the 2023 intern class and several HopeGo teams arrived on our campus in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. Summer is one of our favorite times here at Mission of Hope, as people from across the world give their time to serve on a mission trip.

These photos are from the UL Chi Alpha team who had the opportunity to serve a partner pastor, Pastor David, and expand his church to provide a better space for children to experience the love and hope that Jesus offers!

From student-athletes, youth groups, family trips, and individuals—we are honored to serve alongside teams as people use their time and talent to serve. Teams have hosted mobile medical clinics, facilitated Vacation Bible School and sports camps, distributed water filters, packed grocery bags for the Family Assistance Program, and worked hard on construction projects. Every opportunity is an avenue to share the gospel and bring life transformation.

HAITI | TRANSFORMED BY JESUS

In the midst of the atrocities the people of Haiti are experiencing daily, including gang violence, political unrest, and hunger that often dominate the headlines, remarkable stories of hope are still taking place.

Yves, a Mission of Hope Village Champion in the village of Bercy, recently led 25 young adults through a four-week discipleship training. At the end of the training, eleven young adults publicly proclaimed their faith and hope in Christ through baptism! The unwavering faith of these young men and women is evidence of the power of transformation found in Jesus Christ.

This is a reminder that Haiti's narrative is not solely defined by the unrest that plagues its streets. It is also a story of redemption, where young adults are stepping forward as beacons of light, spreading the message of faith and love amidst the darkness.

quote line

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
- Matthew 28:19-20
quote
As you pray for Haiti and Mission of Hope, please pray for these young leaders who serve as role models for others in their communities. Pray for children who see them emulate the way of Jesus, and pray for churches throughout the island to be strengthened, encouraged, and equipped.

Francenia’s story is one of resilience and faith. She recalls the days when her children attended school at the Mission of Hope campus in Titanyen, Haiti, and the times she found care and compassion at our clinic there, too. Those moments brought hope and stability during difficult times. Yet,

Neika's Story of Hope Neika, a student in one of the schools in our nutrition program, recently shared her story. "When my mom was pregnant with me, my dad left. My mom was always the one who took care of me. And then, in 2021, my mom died. I can still remember the day so clearly. I felt so hopeless when I lost my mom. I didn't know what would happen to me. My mom's cousin is a teacher, and she and her husband took me in to care for me. They put me in school. I thank God for them every day. Today, I am in the 6th grade! And I love school. Math is my favorite subject—it makes me feel smart when I can solve a problem. I also love getting to be with friends at school and eating lunch together. The food helps us focus, which is important—especially during exam time. One day, I dream of becomin
