Parent's Role in Education

This summer, community leaders in Leveque, a rural village in Haiti where Mission of Hope has been working for around 14 years, hosted a training session for parents and children. The focus was on the critical role parents play in their children’s education. Our Haitian team identified a need for this training, as many parents in the community assume that schools will fulfill all educational needs, often missing critical opportunities to actively parent their children.

The church leaders decided to gather and encourage both parents and children, emphasizing the important and God-given role parents play in their children’s lives. While schools provide essential instruction, parents are vital participants in educating their children—mind, body, and spirit. Approximately 60 parents and 80 children attended the training, and the church leaders reported that parents were receptive to the information, gaining a better understanding of their significant responsibility and the important role God has called them to have in their children’s lives.
