Densia’s Story

Students like Densia are able to stay in school, receive a consistent daily meal, and learn without the burden of hunger sitting in the classroom because of the support of donors like you. In Haiti, this kind of support is not supplemental; it is often what makes education possible at all.
Densia is in her 8th year of education at Institution Mixte Joseph Phedanoir. Like many children in her community, there were times when attending school without food was part of her reality. She remembers sitting in class hungry, struggling to focus, and carrying the quiet worry of when she would eat again.
Through the school feeding program, that reality has changed. Now, she receives meals at school, and that simple consistency has created a noticeable shift in her ability to learn. She can focus, participate, and stay engaged in her education.
“I don’t stay hungry anymore,” she shared. “This helps students work more and increases academic success.” What seems small is often what makes school possible.
Recently, Densia took part in a school activity organized by staff and described it as a meaningful moment of unity between students and school leadership. It served as a reminder that school is not only a place of learning but also a place of connection.
A child who once sat in hunger is now learning with clarity. A student once limited by circumstance is now beginning to see a future she could not previously imagine. A life once constrained by lack is now opening toward possibility.
Because of your support, Densia is not only being helped in the present, but she is also being given the opportunity to move towards a bright future.
