Francenia’s Story: A Story of Resilience and Faith

Imagine fleeing your home country—not because you wanted to, but because you felt that you had no choice.

This was Francenia’s* reality three years ago. A mother from Cabaret, Haiti, Francenia made the heartbreaking decision to leave everything she knew behind. Her home. Her community. Her roots. Gang violence had made staying impossible. She crossed into the Dominican Republic, uncertain of what the future held, but determined to protect her family.

Francenia’s story is one of resilience and faith. She recalls the days when her children attended school at the Mission of Hope campus in Titanyen, Haiti, and the times she found care and compassion at our clinic there, too. Those moments brought hope and stability during difficult times. Yet, when she fled, she thought she was leaving all of that behind.

Then one day, in her new and unfamiliar surroundings in the Dominican Republic, Francenia saw something she recognized—Mission of Hope. What had been a source of light for her family in Haiti was now present in the Dominican Republic, helping families just like hers.

She attended a local mobile clinic and received care that she hadn’t been able to for years. Seeing Mission of Hope felt like seeing a piece of home to Francenia.

Francenia shared how deeply moved she is by the good work being done—not just for her but for so many others who have been displaced. But she also shared her prayer: that one day, she and her family can return to a safe Haiti, a place where they can rebuild their lives and find peace.

Francenia’s story reminds us why this mission matters. It’s not just about feeding the hungry or providing education or medical care—it’s about showing God’s love to those who need it most, wherever they are.

Your investment into Mission of Hope makes this possible for Francenia and countless others.

Today, you have the opportunity to bring hope to more families like Francenia’s. Your generosity allows us to extend a hand to those who feel forgotten and offer a glimpse of the home they long to return to. Will you continue to partner with us to bring hope and restoration to those in need?
